Date difference rules

The date calculator measures the day distance between a start date and an end date.

By default, it treats the result as a distance: the start date is included and the end date is excluded. Turn on end-date inclusion when you are counting a period.

How to read the result

A positive result means the end date is after the start date, and a negative result means the order is reversed. Calendar interpretation helps distinguish day distance from period counting.

Are the start and end dates included?

The default excludes the end date. Enable inclusion to count both ends.

When should I include the end date?

Use it when Monday through Friday should count as five days.

Are leap years included?

Yes. The calculation follows real calendar dates, including leap years and February 29.

Can I calculate workdays instead?
